IN MEMORY OF MY DECEASED MOTHER

I DEDICATE THIS WORK TO ALL SENTIENT BEINGS

ALIVE AND DECEASED

1

I was born on an auspicious August 19, the day that Photography was born 141 years later. The anarchist typographer Alfredo Lopez was the name of my first address: Alfredo Lopez # 10 enter Facciolo y Gutenberg, another sign of my Fortuna. I was baptized by the elder of my maternal aunts a Santera Mayor. I grew up in my maternal grandfather’s home who was a Palero and Santero and I am named as the first and last son of my paternal grandmother and the fourth generation of such tradition. In this section I will share works from my personal archive with the best wish of helping all sentient beings. .

To gather artifacts is first of all to care for what such artifacts represent, family, culture, etc. My interest in gathering artifacts goes back to Marianela Boan’s Danza Abierta but even further to the walls full of signs of my Palero grandfather who show me that way. My deepest desire with this work is to help all sentient beings.

There are no physical photographs of my maternal grandfather. I have 8 years full of memories and the memory of one photograph that was destroyed by the women in my family. There is also only one single photograph of myself as a new born. The photographs of the first three years of my life were stolen. The lack of physical photographs open many paths in my mind until I became undone.

It is thus with best wishes I offer here the vehicle of my deliverance.
